Hey all .. have some new info to add.

1. The secret video mode is ONLY for the last fakra port i.e. the one you would normally have a rear camera attached to. So if you have a rear camera your only solutions are (a) Fakra switch as discussed before, (b) StageMotion or © Third Party video boxes e.g.

http://car-solutions.com/en/car-video-interface-for-range-rover-evoque.php

2. The cable approach discussed earlier actually isn't the best way to do it. Get a Mirabox. The Wireless AirPlay worked better than the lightning cable approach for me plus less far less messing around with cables. The box has a 12V cable that you simply attach to the cigarette port.

3. If you are using the Marabox / Fakra switch approach then buy a crimper and male connectors. They just slide into the existing cigarette power connector i.e. there is no soldering or messing around.

4. Not sure why yet but the quality is pretty poor. It's the same blurry mess you see with the reverse camera. It could be to do with the iPhone 5s I am using struggling to downsample to this aspect ratio. It may well be better with the iPhone 4s. This is both with the HDMI/AV converter approach and the Mirabox approach.

It was via Bluetooth as well. I hope to get the video interface sometime this week so will try out the RCA/cinch audio in and see how it compares with Bluetooth.

I'm very curious if it's possible to trick the car into thinking it has a DVD or TV Tuner. Something is telling the head unit to ignore the other fakra ports.

This would be great. Do you think it is possible without a computer? Maybe in the hidden menu? It also must show a button in the display than?

Hi Benziner,

Nice work, but I don't think I am going that far with my RRE that is going to be delivered this month (hopefully). What I do see and has my interest is the "Kenu Airframe" holder for your iPhone. Is this working properly?

I have one for my 6 plus. Works perfectly for me

Its not the one from Kenu but similar. Works pretty good. You could also have a look here (a lot of pictures):

Later I will add a video from all cables and connections I made this afternoon.
