Is the birds eye view for those pure without reversing cam ?

RE: Movie hack - Marsou - 22-02-2012 10:42am

My Pure has the reversing camera but I cant play DVD's (euro spec I guess despite the fact the car is a RHD car but different options from UK........ dont get it why) will this kit work?

also is there a way to have rear camera activated while moving fwd or without engaging reverse?

The birdseye view will only work on cars 'with' the rear view camera, and not with the surround camera system.

The software is only available with tv/dvd on the move module..

No the camera will only show when reverse is selected..

I have the 8 inch touch screen without the DVD or TV function. Is there an aftermarket device that can be easily installed to allow the system to play DVDs or TV?

Do you see a blank screen, or a warning message saying for your safety video is disabled (something like that)? My units show the warning message. I believe it's the warning message shown when the vehicle starts moving and the video is playing. However, the message is shown even when the car is standing still. I called the dealer and they told me that video function is disabled since it's forbidden by law (i.e. any screen next to the driver cannot have video function). I wonder if there is any way to re-enable it. Not sure if the unit in discussion here works the same way on my car.

Any advices from others?

Hi Pete
Did you say you would be able to get a unit that can play a I phone input on a pure even with no tech pack?
Am I imagining it? Lol.

Your imagining it lol.

You may be able into inject video into the rear of the nav but not sure untill it was tried on a non video capable car. You would probably need a tv out cable from your phone for the video but not sure about the audio side of it as this is done over the MOST bus in the car as standard.

Is there an rgb input on the screen/player or would I have to piggy back the input to the screen? I currently have a connector for I phone that splits to 3.5mm jack for audio and USB for power in my Audi. Works a treat but not outputting to main screen in car.
