This.

It would allow you to start the engine in drive.

It is on the Manual though.

That's where BMW have one over RR. SS is available on their X3 8 speed auto.

Got caught out on a test drive once when I thought the engine had died. Forgot I had it and took a short while to get brain into gear! In the meantime had the traffic queuing behind all thinking "Bloody BMW Driver!"

Tell Porsche that - it's on all their new 911's.

What a brilliant mod that would be - adding their 7 speed PDK gearbox to the evoque!

So, thinking about this as I was on the M18/A1 North offramp last night, 3 mile tailback took 45min to get on the A1, was stationary for more than 10min at a time on many occasions, RRE has that funcky "switch everything off" mode when the engine is not running, think this would seriosly annoy a few people sitting a traffic jam and the next moment the vehicle goes into system shutdown mode to save the battery ... Sad

I have stop start on my Freelander TD4 .... manual. It's ok, but doesn't always kick in. It depends on whether the battery can cope with the drain on it or not (eg if you have air conditioning on full). You also have to be in neutral for it to work. You can't sit there in gear with your foot on the clutch. I won't really it miss it on RRE SD4 (auto).
