Hi Guys

My first problem has arisen. I had my car in to a local coachworks (don't ask as you won't believe the answer!) they pointed out and showed me some photographs of the paint peeling on the inside of rims.
They confirmed the wheels left the factory black and say I should go back to Land Rover. My car is out of warranty but only done 26k miles. Should I try dealer or go to LR direct?
I went to valet a Mercedes last week & another guy asked about my services etc & I looked at his Diamond cut wheels on his Mondeo he had recently bought & said there is nothing I can do with those wheels they are as good as scrap & need major refurb as the previous owner has obviously taken it to those nasty £5 car washes. Another tell tail sign was the chrome/aluminium around the windows had gone all hazed.

If folk use such nasty outlets to have cars cleaned expect wheel corrosion as part of the package!!
I have never used those type of car washes. As I bought the car used I can't guarantee it hasn't been supermarket cleaned!
Well folks taking the plunge and booked in for Monday for a complete wheel refurbishment. Contacted dealer who covered all bases to say nothing to do with JLR so no surprises there!!!! I felt I wanted to get wheels sorted out now before more salt and cleaning eats away at them. I will let you all know how I get on and the price I pay. I am hoping the wheel specialist will take some BMW 16" wheels I have with m&s tyres fired.
I was in the same position as you I've had my my12 evoque about 3 month and noticed the shaddow chrome wheels were corroding. So I went in to see the dealers who said they would try land rover for a warranty. They came back and said I should of been claimed for within 3 years and I was about 2 month out. So dealer offered to get them refurbished FOC.so I got them to paint them black along with other bits to make it look more like a black pack.

I didn't buy my Evoque from a main dealer so unfortunately couldn't get a goodwill gesture! Even with paying to get wheels done myself I saved a lot of mone over dealer prices.
Hi All,

I had the same issue with mine 2013 SD4. I took the car back to Sheffield dealer and said it was not right that they should be in this condition. They agreed and three weeks later I had four new allow wheels fitted free of charge.

That's good news I didn't buy my car from a LR dealer which snookered my chances of a goodwill gesture!
