Evening all
No idea how this happened, but I noticed tonight that a small chunk of rubber appears to be missing from the sidewall of my front, driver's side tire. Here's a photo of the damage:
I'm no expert when it comes to tires, but as superficial as it looks I can't imagine that it's going to do any good for the integrity of the tire. I've never come across anything like this before, so to anyone who knows a thing or two about tires, is this just minor damage of no real significance or cause for a new tire?
I'm in no rush to fork out for a replacement, but at the same time I do a lot of motorway milage with my wife and little boy in the car and I value their safety more than a couple of hundred quid.
Gonna take it to a garage tomorrow for a professional opinion, but would appreciate some opinions so I have a better idea about what I'm talking about. Assuming I need to change it, any recommendations on where to go for a replacement? I'm based in Leeds.
Cheers!
