Hi there

So looks like we will be able to collect our car from London end of week commencing 18 th March. Can't wait!!!

However just found out that the dealer will provide export plates for the car but they don't cover the delivery insurance. We are collecting it and driving it back to Vienna over 3 days......

I am looking for short term car insurance for those three days and our local insurance company in Austria have informed us that we have to insure it through a UK company as that is the country of purchase.

Anybody had experience with this or could recommend a good insurance broker????
My dealer gave me a 7 day free insurance with land rover insurance - you should ask your dealer if they can provide the same.

I asked them and they said no....probably because it's the diplomatic sales office as opposed to a normal dealership.

These guys specialise in short term car insurance. Never used them so not sure how good.

Hope it helps
No affiliation but I recently used AVIVA. They will supply a policy from one day to 28 days. You might find you need a UK address but worth a try - can all be done online

There are lots of companies that should be able to quote. I have used e-car before for one day cover but never had to make a claim. It was all internet based and surprisingly cheap I thought.

So contacted Land Rover insurance today and just so anyone else wants to use them when living abroad you have to be a UK resident. The guy told me that zenith do not support the diplomatic sales service so the free 7days does not apply.

Tried aviva and they do coverage but man are they expensive......

Steve, we used AXA insurance to collect ours. No probs at all, maybe I should add, they are our insurance broker.
