My two keys were vacuum wrapped when i got my car. After unwrapping them, the glossy backsides were both scratched up, its kinda "dull". weird considering my car is brandnew and it came wrapped Sad

i know it'll eventually get scratched up over use, are yours glossy new??????
They were glossy, but doesnt last, someone wrapped thiers which seems a sensible idea.
Considering the cost of these keys ( I was told around $600 USD Shocked ) I was shocked to see how easily they scratch.

My solution? I purchased a set of these on eBay:

They were rather expensive ($35 USD), but quality is decent and best of all they completely cover the keys and prevent further scratching. The leather cover also prevents the key from rattling if you place it in one of the door pockets or cup holders while driving.

I find it's the removable backs which get scratched. Polishing them with a scratch recover like that used for chrome iPod backs brings them back a bit but it's a pity the covers are not sold separately as a consumable item. These smart keys are silly money, not just for the key but the need to program new keys into the car and remove lost keys from the car's memory.
Ministry of crap design has struck here. Clearly the designer won the day as otherwise they would have made it an un-markable matt black like the FL2 key.
Yes, I'm sure all this gloss black plastic seemed a good idea at the time - in the car as well - but it's unlikely to look great down the road.
