Full Version: Instrument dials moving with ignition on

My understanding is that if the needles go all the way up and drop down again, the car is all good. If they go so far and then drop back, the point at which they stop is a way of the car warning you of something.

Is that the case in the Evoque? If not, why do the needles move when the engine starts?
I thought it was just a gimmick
Most cars do that sweep movement either ignition on or when the starter cranks. Never had it tell me something wrong though when it sweeps but never had sweep and stop before the end of the dial
Its just for show, if something is wrong the check engine light will flash an error code.
