Quite often when you unlock the car, it starts various pumps/warmers so that the car is ready to fire as soon as you push the start button - remember the days of getting in a car, turning the ignition half way to start the diesel warming coil, having to wait for the coil warming light to then go out before starting the engine?? - I believe it is all this type stuff that now happens when you unlock/open the car.

Well Just changed a-n-other headlight bulb in the Volvo C30 and noticed that was making the same noise, quieter but identical...
Engine hadn't run, only turned on ignition, no Xenon's, Does sound like a switching power supply
