To change or not to change. That is the question

Recently had my car serviced at 21500 miles and first MOT at 4 years (Northern Ireland) Car is under contract with the option to buy at 5th year point.

I asked for the windscreen wipers to be changed as they are now 4 years old. On collection of the car I was told that the wipers didn't need changing by the Service assistant even though I asked for them to be changed.

Can anyone advise on how often blades should be changed whilst under contract.
The car is parked day and night in the garage when not being used and therefore not subject to normal deterioration from being left outside.

Just a little perturbed that they didn't do what I asked them to do.

I think when it comes to contract. they will only change things when they are needed/not working. Would they stick a new set of tyres on if you asked them?

Argue that they are a safety item. The lease company my car is with will change them no question as they are a safety item. The only downside is I have to use a Halfords Auto centre to get them changed

Thanks. I think I will just buy online and fit them myself. Saves a 40 mile round trip.
Dealerships frustrate me at best of times. As far as annoyance levels go, I would compare them to having to take a flight from Heathrow.

Halfords offer a decent service. They will even come out in to the car park and fit them foc.
