Sand Setting on Evoque

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and just got my SD4 Dynamic a week ago. I've been playing around with the terrain responses and curious to find that I get the most power from the sand setting, even in normal sport mode or command shift.

Just curious if anyone has found the same thing and also explain why?

I had the settings demo'd to me at dunkeld experience centre. If you were attacking a sand dune you need maximum initial acceleration and torque to get up there, hence the extra 'boost' you get in this setting. Worked wonders when I was driving up the grass slopes aswell, the instructor also said it's good for traffic light drag races! Lol

Thanks for the reply Chunk, thats what i felt too when driving up steeps hills it feels great and kinda addictive. But just confused why we can't get that feel in sport mode even with dsc off

Try sport mode and sand setting!

I was told when at a LRE centre, when I questioned using the sand setting on Tarmac that the ECU records it's usage & could affect a warranty claim if proved it was used incorrectly.

Sand setting completely changes the car, it ensures the engine revs to the maximum, 4wd is locked in. Momentum is key power in at the pedal and power out at the wheels.

I don't see how, every LR I have had I've fooled about with the TR. The snow we had last month I used mud/ ruts rather than GGS as I found it a bit better for the deep stuff. All the sand setting does is provide grip, torque and maximum revs you can't break it.......... Can you?

How would they know you weren't on sand?

I know what you mean. But lets say, a owner lives in a city with low milage & a strange engine failure. The ECU shows daily use of the sand program LR could refuse the repair under warranty.
If we try it out from time to time shouldn't be a problem. But switching to sand all the time could put wear on the engine parts.

Theoretically if you use Sport and Sand setting for a traffic light dash, as long as you do it in a straight line, it should not cause that much damage. It is when doing corners on hard surface in 4wd lock mode that things start playing up.
