RE: Running I phone through 8" screen

Found it on the left side behind the DVD Unit and not on it. First my converter was broken but now it works.

First you have to remove the console like shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b_qio8CYlk

After that you have to loosen the two screws.

Remove the CD Unit

Behind it you will find the Fakra connectors of the surround cameras. It is on the left side and hidden behind the plastic.

RE: Running I phone through 8" screen

Great post Benziner!!

Getting my new Evoque in March and really want to give this a go - I'm pretty handy with this sort of thing/fitting head units, speakers amps etc.... so I'm hoping this isn't too difficult!

Slimer, have you given this a go yet or order the parts needed?

Anyone else ??

Cheers,

RE: Running I phone through 8" screen

Hi again,

Just another further question to this - where do you have all of the cables stored for this set up?

Are they tucked away (apart from the connection to the iPhone obviously)?

Does any of this need to be plugged into the USB under the centre armrest or does it run from the headunit itself?

Really want to give this a go myself.

Also, does the video only work when the vehicle is not in motion (with parking brake on etc) or does it work while you are driving (for the satnav on iPhone etc)??

Many thanks,

There is a space under the console and gear control and I will put the HDMI cable on the left side up to the cigarette lighter in the middle. Just trying to get it out there. It would be better to go thru the armrest but I don't know how without drilling a hole?!? You don't need the USB and you can use it while driving because it will fake the surround cameras. These won't work if you use the Iphone.

Ok great, thank you for your reply.

Could I just check - to access the video/iPhone display you have to go to the secret menu and select video? This would normally be the surround camara's but instead will replicate the iPhone display.... is that correct?

Also, are these the correct items to buy?? I already have a few iphone lightning cables spare so dont need to buy those....

Many thanks,
