Reset ECM

It stops adapting after about 75 miles and programs the computer to your driving habits. If you have driven the vehicle before the first 75 miles you dont need to do this

No worries, it just resets the vehicle back to baseline from the factory on the ECM. Since i didnt drive my Evoque the first 200 miles it learned someone elses driving habits and was kind of sluggish on the reaction of the accelerator pedal and the shift points. if you like the vehicle the way it is i would leave it be.

So if I drive to work and want to take it at a steady pace will it adjust to that style of driving and what will happen when I want to put my foot down?

It will become confused, just as all us potential RRE owners are!!!

probably a just a slight delay in throttle response. shouldnt be too bad.

besides the battery cable, is there any other way to do this? seems like there would a switch or electronic method some how.

Sounds a bit odd to me, I would not expect them to still be using volatile memory in the ECU, thats old technology.

I would also not recommend people touching battery cables together unless they know exactly what they are doing!

The dealer can probably reset it using the diagnostic port... If it really doesnt adapt continually? Why would you lock a driving style in from the first 75 miles for the life of the vehicle!

The Dealer can reset that too. The thought is that your driving style won't change after a certain amount of miles. I'm just guessing 75 miles cause my Lexus did that. It might be different for each manufacture.

There are 2 fuses it looks like, one is in the engine compartment #8 and the other is I believe is #19 on the passenger fuse box.

So you would just pull one of the fuses for like 5 min? Is that what the dealer would do?

Dealer wouldnt do either, would reset it via their diagnostic scanner

What the original poster failed to mention is that the reset only works when there's a full moon and on April 1 each year.

The idea that the car's operating profile is set in stone after the first 75 miles is baloney.
