RE: Range Rover Evoque RS
I visited the plant in Stuttgart this week where the Macan's petrol engines are/will be made and the most likely candidate for the range topper is their twin turbocharged 3 litre V6 which already finds use in the Panamera and Cayenne. Looking at the size of this engine, I do not think there would be space for an equivalent in the Evoque.
My worry is that an Evoque R(S) will be more style than substance and the Macan will wipe the floor with it. If they can't increase capacity, they can increase turbo boost pressure and increase maximum RPM to increase power but the Ford engine already sounds quite stretched when you rev it towards the limit.
There's no denying Porsche's commitment to make the Macan a success. A brand new factory extension in Leipzig (I wasn't allowed in when I visited in April), 40000 sales year planned though I expect when specc'ed to Evoque levels it will be more expensive. It's bound to dent Evoque sales and it will be interesting to see LR's response.
