They saw you coming then. It make no difference in a road car: http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/saf...rogen.html
To quote the ATS wesbite:
Quote:Compressed air within tyres contains water vaour. Over time, this can cause the inner wheel rim to rust.
Not seen many rusty alloys myself.

Well I didn't know that! some interesting facts about Nitrogen over air on that website and at under £4 to have it done seems good value just to not have to top them up so often

RE: Nitrogen Inflation for Tyres
I'm actually suprised that 2 out of the other 3 replies haven't heard of nitrogen in tyres?
Its been around for years...
Fwiw I have this in our smart car principly to maintain more consistent pressures throughout the winter. But I didnt think it was anything special (and it didnt cost me anything!)

All my pressures are at present 34 psi, (22" rims) i'll let you know the pressures once i've trialled it over the next 2-3 months..
If your right then £4, it's not a lot to loose..

RE: Nitrogen Inflation for Tyres
It's true that oxygen permeates through 'rubber' more easily than nitrogen due to the molecular size difference, but this effective diameter difference is only very small (0.00000000003 m), and bear in mind that 79% of normal air is nitrogen in the first place. The act of compressing air also significantly reduces the amount of water vapour it contains.

RE: Nitrogen Inflation for Tyres
Its especially relevant in countries with extreme temperatures either hot or cold and is used in truck and bus tyres in the Nordic and Scandanavian countries as the pressure doesn't fluctuate with temperature swings like it does with air
