RE: Fuel lid not opening
Probably an over reaction, but if making a long journey that requires a top up, perhaps leave the flap unlatched. I'm a dyed in the wool sort (meaning old!) who doesn't like letting the tank go below half before filling up. You never know, the next open fuel station with fuel could be 300 miles away!

RE: Fuel lid not opening
Hi
This happened to me.
I fixed it myself at zero cost.
Don't prise off the fuel flap as advised above before checking the fuse for the fuel flap locking, as it's possible it's just a blown fuse. It was in my case. Replacing the fuse is much preferred to breaking the fuel cap and incurring cost and the hassle of repairs!
The fuel flap locking fuse is located behind the glove box (access through the glove box).
Look in the manual in the Fuses section for the fuel flap locking fuse. In my case (Evoque) it was a red 10A fuse in slot 34. There is a spare 10A fuse (make sure you replace with the same type!) underneath the glove box (a different access panel down below the glove box).
Do this with the ignition switched off, of course.
Good luck.
