Land rover assist

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience of land rover assist ?
So far I'm fairly appalled by their service (or lack thereof)!

Last evening my evoque decided to drop into 'restricted performance' mode.
I rang LR assist who decided to send an AA man instead of a LR specialist.
He arrived to say that he could do nothing as he could not read any faults.
It later transpired that an LR specialist had been on his way but had been diverted.

So the AA man contacted LR and I was advised that somebody would come to look at the car before midday today.
I have just had a call to say that the specialist who was going to attend has called in sick today (presumably they knew this a few hours ago and have simply decided not to tell me).
They have arranged for another to attend at some time between 1 and 2 this afternoon.
I live in hope.

So my 2 month old car has been sitting outside a friends house, 300 miles from my home, for 18 hours since the fault was called in. Meanwhile I cannot go to work and I have the prospect of how to get home this evening. I have no idea if they can fix the fault and no idea how long it will take hem to get me a replacement vehicle if they cannot.
Wish me luck Sad

LRA have to provide you with a car, when my D3 died they just sent a recovery truck to lift it and in the morning I was picked up by enterprise rent a car and given a top spec D3 for the 3 weeks it was in. So get on the phone to LRA and demand a loan car it's your right.

Cheers
I have no doubt that they will provide a car. I'm just unimpressed by the time it has taken to even come and check the fault out. I'll keep you posted.

No probs.
Must admit they were first class when I called them out, but that was a few years ago and before the AA took over the contract. If the AA can't fix it at the roadside shouldn't they call for a truck and take it to the nearest dealer and drop you off at home.

Hope you get it sorted.

Very frustrating but out of interest have you tried the car again? Those types of issue seem to clear themselves sometimes.

RE: Land rover assist

I've only called them out once and that was for a small diesel leak on my then Discovery 4 in 2010. They arrived within the hour, made a temporary repair and arranged for the closest Dealer to look at it properly at a later date. First Class really.

It was the Dealer that failed - they didn't do any better than the temp work and the leak returned! Happily I then contacted Lookers and they ordered in a new part and fixed the problem properly.

RE: Land rover assist

Faith has now been restored as the guy who turned up to check the car was fantastic. We did try a reset but to no avail.
Apparently it is the throttle sensor and of course nobody at LR has heard of one failing before. We crawled it to the local dealer in Ashford and they are going to deliver it back to north Yorkshire when it is fixed. Meanwhile I should be getting a hire car delivered although the hire company seem to think I shall have to wait until this evening for delivery. At least I have now made it to work and can keep myself occupied until the replacement arrives.

That's not good, I must admit I was in mine this morning and engine seemed to be hesitating - like a misfire on a petrol engine. It cleared itself and is OK now - did you have any warning?

RE: Land rover assist

No warning at all. Just went into limited mode. It is a throttle position sensor and will be fixed by the local dealer next week. Then they will ship it up the M1 and pick up the rather nice range rover sport biography that they have given me to play with.
So I am now impressed with the service albeit that it was a little slow to start with.
