But regardless of having a spare or not the wheel will need a new tyre and the goo taking out even if you have a spare....

Err no....if the goo option doesn't work. i.e. torn sidewall (more of a risk on low profile tyres and our lovely potholed roads) you will be sat at the side of the road going nowhere waiting for recovery - at that moment the £120 option would see exceedingly good valueEvil
