Insurance

In preparation of getting my new car in July, I was wondering which insurers you had gone with for your Evoque, and if anyone had any recommendations?

The best quote I have had so far is £470.00 from the AA, now i think this is competitive and obviously i know it depends on your driving history. But as a 30yr old female with 7yrs no claims do you think this quote is reasonable?Smile

Pure 5dr SD4, Fuji, Pano roof, Tech Pack & Pure Pack, Privacy, Rear camera, Black Roof. Due 9th July

Ps, that doesn't seem an unreasonable quote

RE: Insurance

That seems reasonable; not only your driving history but also your use, excess, job and so on.

I'm an old dog (57) in Gloucestershire, retired, clean licence, Social/Domestic/Pleasure (no business or commuting), £1000 excess, premium around £200.

Mark

Evoque was great, now in an RRS SVR

If you have specified the pano roof check your policy covers this as I found some don't.

Thanks for the links cjfp it seems like there are quite alot of policies out there that don't cover your car without a tracker! I'm getting one anyway so hopefully won't fall foul of those rules

Ah, to be retired. I may add my mum on the policy and see whether it reduces at all Very Happy

I have got the pano roof, how would I know my policy covers it. Would this be in the windscreen section or do you think i would have to declare it as a modification? Shocked

Its not a modification as its from the factory fitted options list. Some policies cover it on the windscreen glass, others its classed as a 'claim' so you will lose part of your no claims bonus, some policies specificaly exclude pano roofs, Saga for one - this does not apply to you as you are far too young for a Saga policy !!
Check the small print on glass and if in doubt always ring the insurer and record who you spoke to etc. etc.
Good luck.

RE: Insurance

I am over 50, and was insured with RIAS (specialist insurer for over 50s) prior to purchasing my evoque. When I rang them to swap cover, they declined to cover the Evoque on the basis that they only cover cars up to £35k in value. They refunded the value of the unused portion of my annual cover, because it was paid up front, without quibble, and without deducting a cancellation charge, because i stressed that the cancellation was at their instigation, not mine. I am now left wondering, how should I answer the ubiquitous question in future motor insurance quotations "have you ever been refused motor car insurance, had a policy cancelled by the company, or had special terms imposed?" A "YES" to the question is the obviously truthful answer, but is bound to load my quote or possibly deny me cover. Thoughts please..............

SD4 5 dr Dynamic Auto in OG with verve interior, Shadow Chrome style 7 alloys, Pano roof, privacy glass and spare wheel. Collected 25th May. 900 miles driven in 1st month.

I guess they didn't decline you, they declined the car. As you said you already had a policy with them so I think a resounding 'no' would be ok when answering that particular question.

I think I will have to start ringing around insurers, I will start with my current and see whether they will give me a competitive quote compared to The AA one I have, Thanks Tony for your help.

Strange, RIAS quoted me and my value was £45k+. I declined the quote because it was 5ite but there was no problem insuring with them it was just the old 'pano roof' problem and the fact the policy was not competitive. Just to clarify, I was not looking for the cheapest quote but ensuring I had a good level of cover at a competitive price.
If you are over 50, SAGA was a good policy, competitive price BUT they will not cover the pano roof.
If I was specing the Evoque again it would be without the pano, no benifit from the drivers seat anyway. There again if I was specing the Evoque again it would be a FL2!!!
