First Experiences with the Evoque after 2 weeks.

Got my Evoque nearly 2 weeks ago now and thought it would be a good idea to give you guys a short review of my experiences with it. Got the 4WD Dynamic Automatic Evoque with Diesel Engine.

As I live in Thailand the only way to buy an Evoque is to get it through a import specialist showroom (there are thousands of them here in Bangkok). The handover experience went well bar the fact that the bonnet wasn't closed properly after the PDI so had to spend 10 minutes waiting for the technician to come and fix the screws in the bonnet and close it up properly.

The Pros:
I love the driving experience on the Evoque! Feels like you are driving a tank! very sturdy and has a great grip to the road. I'm driving around 100km each day round trip for work so getting full use of the evoque. 850km on the meter now after a week and a half. 10.1 litre / 100km is my fuel usage. Not amazing but not poor. Seems that the Evoque is using a lot more fuel when I'm driving on S than on the D gear. Got loads of compliments about how the car looks. Everyone says it has a very striking look! Spacious inside as well and has a butt load of high tech gadgets installed.

The Cons:
As the car was imported, it was on a boat for more than a month, and then sat at the port for around a month also. They were yellow spots on the bonnet and some scratches on the front and rear bumper of the car. I wasn't too pleased with the dealer about how they handed the car over to me while they were clear imperfections visually. Took the car back to the dealer and they duly polished and removed all the stains out. When I got the car back I noticed more imperfections. 1) The paint was NOT coated at all which was weird as all my other cars were on delivery. 2) They were paint stains on the inside blue "range rover" logo, kind of like paint spillings. Dealer said they couldn't do much about it except try to remove as much as possible because it came from the factory like that. 3) After a week of driving the battery just died! I couldn't start the car and they were no warnings before about low battery. Dealer came to my house to have a look and gave the car a temp battery for a few days. Found out the battery had issues. Dealer duly replaced the battery with a new one. Since then everything has been working fine.

So to sum it up, LOVE THE CAR, but the dealer did not take enough care with the PDI and making sure the car was 100% before delivery. Hopefully now the car won't have any problems! Will give another review after a few more months.

Oh and they were moisture spots on the front right head lamps although they were barely visible unless you actually stare at it closely! Dealer said they did not want to clean that off as it involved removing the casing of the headlights which were sealed by the factory. They said after 6-7 months when I take my car back in for a proper maintenance they will do it.
