RE: Extended Warranty in US

Got three quotes from some of the local dealers. All 48mth / 100,000miles (total, so 50,000 extend from factory warranty)

1) LR branded from dealer #1 = $2700
2) LR branded (Assurant apparently) from dealer #2 = $3900
3) 3rd party (Continental) from dealer #2 = $2800

According to dealer #2 the extended warranties cover about 85% of what the factory bumper-to-bumper covers.

Disturbing at how much these prices differ, especially for the two LR branded warranties.

Whats the difference between the 1 and 2? $2700 seems expensive, I was thinking $2k max is fair. This car has a simple engine and although the 9AT transmission has many issues, I think they are mostly user created/experienced.
