Evoque meet up to go whale watching in Eden and some off road driving

Over the Labour day weekend 4th to 7th October I am planning a holiday down at Eden to go whale watching and some fun on the fire trails, similar to my trip a few weeks ago: http://babyrr.com/forum/thread-7272.html

I am going back as it now whale watching time. Mostly likely I will go out on the Cat Balou (http://www.catbalou.com.au). Which is a large catamaran that I have been on a few times and always had good whale watching. Cost is $75 per adult. There is a smaller boat I have also been on, which is great but may not be so good for those not comfortable at sea.

I intend to also drive along the Snake Trail again, but go way further than I did last time. The Snake Trail comes off the Princess Highway at Kiah and goes along a beautiful valley and the Towamba River. It is a twisty, single lane dirt road. There are some stunning views, also some scary drops which are magnified if a car were to come from the other direction. This is all 2WD drivable, but I found some other trails running off this that are more 4x4, but clear tracks. The Snake Track becomes the Lower Towamba Rd, which becomes the Snake Track again, then the Towamba Road and then the Big Jack Mountain Road to the Mount Darrah Road back to the Princess Highway and then to Eden. It would be a longish drive about 71 km there and about 90 km back and packed picnic lunch and rest stops may be required.

On the Territory ford forum I am also a member of, we have often gotten together as a small group and headed off on similar trips, so I am doing same here as well, in case anyone is interested. Some from the Territory forum, mostly couples and families, may also attend.

I am not sure if there has been any gathering of Evoque owners in Australia, but there is always a first, and so I am putting out the invitation. This is not a trip for 'boy racers' and that all road rules and sensible driving is expected.
