Max tow amount and safe tow amount are two different things. He's trying to tow a caravan that's just 50 kg below the maximum towing capability of the car. Max towing capability would be on a flat surface with good grip, in good weather conditions with no wind. And then you have to factor in what you take on the caravan too...gas bottles, kitchen utensils, bedding, awning maybe...
