Electronic Parking Brake

when my parking brake is on and I pull away it automatically released, but only in 1st gear. It will not release if I am in 2nd.
Below is an extract from the owners manual

EPB release - manual transmission:
If the vehicle is stationary with the engine
running and the EPB applied, pressing the
accelerator and releasing the clutch while in
gear will release the EPB automatically and
allow the vehicle to move off.
Automatic release will operate in first, second
and reverse gears.

Any ideas anybody ?

Ideas on what? You want it to release when you pull of in 4th gear?

No, he wants it to release in second, which, according to the handbook, it's supposed to do. (I've got an auto, so can't help).

Speary - unless answered before I get home, I will check. Best fun is to try and pull away with your door open - the EPB won't release at all !

RE: Electronic Parking Brake

@gw76 - IIRC that's because it is acting as an emergency brake - discussed somewhere else on here.

@speary - just tested it and no, it won't pull away in 2nd!

RE: Electronic Parking Brake

So, its either a misprint in the handbook or a software feature (bug).
I hope there is a fix as pulling away in 2nd would be very usefull especially when facing down hill as 1st gear is sooooooo low.
I will email my dealer
Thanks again for the prompt investigations guys
