Curry Stain on front seat - aaarrrrrggghhh

So , decided to nip out and get an Indian take away. Stupidly , very very stupidly , decided to put bag on passenger seat for 10 minutes journey back home. Thought about footwell but decided - like an idiot - that bag wouldnt tip over on the seat.Rolling Eyes
Get home , take bag to kitchen and notice bottom of bag is a pool of oil .
OMG. my seat ........
Rush outside to find a lovely bag shaped green stain on my black leather seat.
Gulp .
Major panic.
Tears. Break land speed record to house to get cloth / water / anything
Paper towels to mop up residue , gentle dabbing with soft towel.
Still green. Vivid green.
More tears. Some swearing .
Internet , google search and panic.
Mop up with damp towel again.
Pat dry.
Vaseline ( no really ! or petroleum jelly for our US cousins) on green bits.
Buff vaseline off.
Pat down with damp towel again.
Sprinkle with talc ( baby powder )
Leave overnight.
Just been out to wipe off the talc , gently .
Green stain pretty much faded to nothing. You have to look hard for it .
Phew.
Hopefully time will help it to fade away completely.
Be careful people...........
Oh , and the curry was cold by the time I thought about it again. By which time I had gone right off it.

If there is still any there try some gtechniq W2 which is a great APC and stain remover. Also probably worth putting a leather protector on your seats which should make removing marks and stains much easier too.

Thanks , in the initial panic - on a Sunday night - had to go with what I had in the house.
However , I feel a Gtechniq website visit is imminent in the next few hours .

OMG I would have cried too! I wouldn't have thought it would have made such a mark on black leather! Glad you have managed to mostly get rid of the stain, might not have been the same story on a pale leather seat!

Spilt satay sauce from my takeaway on the front passenger floor mat a couple of weeks ago. I was frantic enough about that, let alone if it had happened on the seat. Wife now gives me a box to carry the takeaway in. Well done for your quick actions!

Arrived 16 December 2011: Prestige SD4 auto 5dr in OG with Adaptive Dynamics, Adaptive Xenons, Surround Cameras, Auto Dimming Rearview, Grey Oak Wood, Spare Wheel and Powered Tailgate.

Joining 2010 Freelander XS Td4e in Stornoway Grey (we like Grey!)

I love my Dynamic, but this is why I wish I didn't have the perforated leather seats. I'm assuming you don't have perforated leather or you would already be looking into the cost of a new pad, leather seat cover, and how to take the seat apart right? I think the Vaseline (yes, that's a brand name for it here in the US) would just have made it worse by pushing down into all the little holes.

As a matter of interest, does the Evoque not have a 'curry hook' like lots of cars seem to have these days? I know that wouldn't have helped with the leaky bag the OP had, though I guess it might have meant it only leaked on the carpet rather than the seats.
