RE: Brake issue?

I've had a few times I've tried to use cruise and it wont engage, this normally happens if I try it at slower speeds, e.g. 40mph which I sometimes do to avoid speeding on unfamiliar roads, (since we don't have a speed limiter) and I want to concentrate on the road, where i'm heading and whats infront of me, rather than constantly watching the speedo. I've always assumed this is because of the gear i'm in, in the manual or something like that at the time.

Interestingly the Volvo I drive also eats it rear pads up quicker than the fronts.

Booked mine in at the dealer to have a look at this, Ive also had the cruise issue which might be related. Loan cars are booked up for four weeks so there might be no pads left at all by then

RE: Brake issue?

LRA came and we went out for a spin to test it and everything worked perfectly. Isn't always the way. We even went off to find a decent hill to get the HDC working to see if that had any effect on any thing but nope it was all working OK. We will see how it goes but I got some more decon gel to keep on top of cleaning the dust off.

Let me know what the outcome of yours is z4alfie.

In the USA there is a recall on certain 2012 Evoques because "The rear brake caliper retaining bolts may be insufficiently torqued." Not sure how this effect Euro Cars, if at all.

RE: Brake issue?

So there's a few of us noticing the extra dust on the rears (not to mention the stange members who don't go over there cars with a fine tooth pick each week Very Happy yet to notce it).
So what's the reason ?

RE: Brake issue?

Normal reasons for rear brake wear.

1) Handbrake not released before driving off.

2) DSC cutting in.

3) Brake balance biased too much to rear.

4) Offroad usage/HDC.

Its not 1, 2 or 4 with me, and cant change 3...

And rear pads are always so thin new they're gone quick if they wear prematurely.

Volvo C30 does 2 rear sets in the time of 1 front set, I think the Evoque will be same!

RE: Brake issue?

I'll come in on this thread now, I was slack and didn't wash the car during the bouts of snow we had, but finally got round to it on friday.
The fronts were fine (just dust), but the rears were properly coated, and started to ingrain Sad Rears are clearly working much harder than the fronts, and much like others on here, I've never seen this before Neutral

Ordered: Fuji Dynamic Lux Coupe / style 7 wheels / Privacy glass / adaptive xenons / something else which I've forgotton.
Should be end of April (was March, then April, then end of May/June).

When i changed both front and rear pads at 27k recently, the wear rate was about the same F/R.
