Agree. I've purchased a set of chunky offroad tyres on 17inch rims to use offroad. Will only switch to them if going exploring offroad. So far the 17inch wheels seems to work well with adaptive dynamics. Slightly more road noise and bouncy, but not bad at all.

Had a chat with LR and 17" rims are fine with AD
