I've managed to convince myself to buy an Evoque. The running costs have been putting me off, but the new Service pack has helped lower those costs.
There doesn't seem to be any wait for one at the moment, which is perhaps why I managed to get 10% off.
The deals are there for the taking!

Be vigilant!:

Owners of Landrover Defenders are being warned to remain vigilant following a series of thefts across Surrey and the surrounding area since January.
Officers are currently investigating more than 20 reports of thefts of Landrover Defenders, with mostly older models being targeted, in particular 1990-2005 models of the 90 and 110 type.
Vehicles have been stolen from across the county, including Cranleigh, Staines, Farnham, Dorking, Witley, Alfold, Frimley Green, Ewhurst, Tadworth and Mytchett. Officers are also investigating a number of other thefts in Thames Valley, Sussex and Hampshire.
Investigating Officer Detective Constable Kerry Whindle said: "We are currently investigating 23 offences and it is clear that these vehicles are being specifically targeted. We have also established that these vehicle thieves are mostly targeting older models which are not fitted with immobilisers.
"I would urge owners of these vehicles to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity relating to their vehicles. Can I also recommend that owners consider additional security measures for their vehicles, including steering or pedal box locks, alarms, immobilisers, hidden battery isolator switches or even something as simple as blocking your Defender with another car on the driveway.”
DC Whindle added: "We are carrying out a full investigation into these thefts and hope that by reminding owners of Landrover Defenders of some basic crime prevention advice that we may be able to prevent further offences from taking place. I am also appealing to anyone with any information about any of these thefts to come forward straightaway.”
Thefts include:
10-11 May Theft of a green Landrover Defender from Waterhouse Lane Tadworth;
8-9 May Theft of a green Landrover Defender from The Village, Ewhurst;
8-9 May Theft of a blue Landrover Defender from Buckhurst Road, Frimley Green;
2 May Theft of a red Landrover Defender from Andover, Hampshire;
24 April Theft of a white Landrover Defender from Tadley, Hampshire;
22-23 April Theft of a silver Landrover Defender from Dunsfold Road, Alfold, recovered in Bramley;
20 April Theft of a blue Landrover Defender from Etchingham, Sussex;
17 April Theft of a white Landrover Defender from Upper Beeding, Sussex;
17 April Theft of a green Landrover Defender from Aylesbury, Thames Valley;
14 April Theft of a red Landrover Defender from Salisbury Terrace, Mytchett;
13-14 April Theft of a green Landrover Defender from Horsham, Sussex;
7 April Theft of a white Landrover Defender from Framfield, Sussex;
29 March Theft of a white Landrover Defender from Hastings, Sussex;
26 March Theft of a red Landrover Defender from Wokingham, Berkshire;

I have recently taken delivery of an Evoque with Tech Pack. I have looked at the connections on the back of the head unit and I have found 1 blue Socket unconnected and 3 Fakra type connectors on the back, 1 pink, 1 green and 1 brown unconnected, there is one connected Fakra which I assume comes from the DVD.

Can anyone advise what each of these connectors is for, I assume one is for a reversing camera and one a Video out, but I was hoping that one was a video in.

I have connected a video in motion box and placed pin 1 to on, thinking the system would be looking for a signal in, as pin 1 brings up both TV options and reverse camera options on the screens.

I have tried connecting both PAL and NTSC signals to all 3 Fakra's and have not been able to see anything on the screen, I have tried most combinations, but wonder if it's either not possible, or I am missing something.

Its only for the daughter to watch programs down loaded on Iplayer.

If it cannot be done, its not a major issue as I have connected a 60GB OCZ SSD (FAT32 formatted) and I have created one folder for music and one for films, I am surprised at how fast the drive is and how quickly it picks up the songs when I get back into the car.

Any help would be great.

I'm currently thinking about upgrading my eD4 in Fuji White with either (a) roof rails; or (b) tinting the rear windows but I'm stuck on 2 points.

Which upgrade to got for first, their both the same price; and if I choose the roof rails which colour do I go for.

I'd appreciate any comments on the above, what looks best regarding the rails, as well as any pictures showing a similar colour evoque with them fitted.

Being one of the "new customers" that Land Rover were hoping to attract with the Evoque I sadly now have to leave the marque after only 18 months.

Apart from a little lack of refinement around town I have been totally satisfied with the car overall but did suffer from the dreaded rattle syndrome from the rear (oo err)

My gripe is totally with the Stratstone dealership in Newcastle - they are so inept its untrue. In my short time as a Land Rover customer they have

- failed to turn up for the car when a pick up time had been agreed for a service
- serviced the car and returned it without a valet and also without any attempt to fix the rattling tailgate
- then took it back for 8 weeks after which they said the rattle was resolved - as soon as I drove out of the dealership the rattle was actually twice as bad!
- They then told me that they would make another attempt at a fix and would ring me when a courtesy car became available - that was two months ago and I still haven't heard a thing from them

That was the final straw and despite Liam from LRCR being absolutely brilliant in trying to placate me in attempting to get me to stay within the brand, this morning I have signed up for a Lexus IS300h F Sport.

I had been a Lexus customer previously so I know for fact that I will get top class service from them - if only Land Rover could follow suit instead of taking their clients for granted - their product is fantastic and it deserves better.

Good luck to you all, I'm sure all of the dealers can't be as bad as ours "up north"

Hello All,

Just out of curiosity I went to the local dealer and ask about illumintated tread plates that fit my 5 door Evoque. He pulled up some stats where the 2 door tread plates were cheaper than the 5 door ones. Dont the coupe one's fit on the 5 door? I was trying to do a dimensions search online with no luck. Could anyone of you advise whether they are the same or different?

Thank You.

The volume settings on my stereo seem to have gone out of whack.

Normally volume setting of 15-20 was for normal listening and 25-35 when I wanted it loud, with 35+ being very loud

Now you can’t even hear it at 15 and need to get to 40 for it to sound normal, and at max it was like it used to be at 30-35.

Anyone else encountered this, I have gone through all the option and settings screen and couldn't seem to find anything which would have caused this.

Also incidentally my Alarm also went off when I unlocked the car just before this problem showed. I have just had the alternator/low battery call back thing done (though i hadn't experienced any problems before).

True, according to Autocar magazine this week LR will discontinue the Freelander name next year when they launch a new stretched Evoque floorpan based smaller Discovery available with 5and 7 seat models and with the new range of 4 cylinder engines. The big scheme if things is that LR will have 3 vehicle ranges Defender, Discovery and Range Rover. The new baby Disco will be based on an extended Evoque but will look like a scaled down Disco not a big Evoque, there will also be a sub Evoque sized "urban" Discovery.
Also on the next double page spread in Autocar is the news that plans to develope a new factory and a new engine building plant in India have also been dropped along with plans to launch a Defender replacement in 2015 - there will now be no Defenders built after 2015, production will cease completely. NW that is good news for those of us that run existing cars as used values are already appreciating............. They don't say when the next Defender will be launched now. Apparrently it's all down to TATA in India making staggering losses as Nano has not been the sles hit it was expected to be and the larger version has been a sales flop too.
