Found it a bit of a pain getting the the backing off them (maybe my nails aren't long enough :? ), but once in place, has been very secure - hasn't budged in 8 months or so.

It doesn't. That single pipe goes into a large silencer behind the bumper and the twin exhaust pipes exit from there.
