Mine falls in that range too, but I'm in the UK. Just checked on Topix but there's no recall listed for my VIN. Do Australian vehicles get VINs allocated from a different sequence or pool?

Yes, the rest of the car remains locked while the boot is open (mirrors still folded in). If the car is "double locked" you get the confirmation beep from the sounder when you close the boot.
