mine was updated after I reported the lag problem to the dealer a month after purchase. mines a manual not an auto, and I think the Freelander 2 SD4 also suffered from the same issue. So its engine management related rather then auto box lag.

and the difference is very very noticeable in smoothness through the gears

I'm really looking forward to this update now, and its why i asked them to note it on the things to do, just to make sure of it.
Keep the reports coming guys, sounds great. Many thanks.

Mine was serviced recently and this update was already on the sheet before id even asked for it, so guess they are doing generally now. Feels much Perkier after update. Mines a 6 speed auto.

It really makes it a different car to drive. In fact, I had mine done around a month ago and I'm still getting used to it - I keep expecting the lag when coming off the brake and onto the accelerator at roundabouts and junctions etc.

Wow!! could this make the 6 speeder from good to great? Sounds like it.

how does one know if the update has been applied during a previous service, or for owners that bought the car used.

When I booked mine in for a service, the dealer checked my reg and told me it was due so I suppose you could phone any dealer and ask them to check any outstanding updates/campaigns against the reg number.

O.K. i just took my Evoque in for the yearly service, and its being serviced as i speak.

Frustrated !!! So i mention to the service manager behind the desk, that i'd like the Q585 update done on my car, and he checks Topix and says because this update is not a recall or campaign, it's probably country specific and does not apply to my car. He then went further and said that it wouldn't be available to them anyway, because its not on a campaign or recall.

Obviously i'm really annoyed by this at the moment, and even though Topix says there are no campaigns for my car, i can have seen this update on Topix and know its there anyway.
I told him i won't give up on this, as i other people around the world have had it applied and love it....so i said while they have the car, to check with the head technician and tell me whats going on when i return to pick my car up later.

I have some questions, and hope some good answers might give me some ammunition i can use later today incase they tell me the same and that they can't do it.

1. Has anyone in Australia had this done?
2. Can an update be applied if its not listed as a campaign or recall?
3. Has anyone heard that it might be country specific?
4. For those that have had it done (i see most are from the UK), can you recall wether it was showing on campaigns allocated for your car on Topix?

Any informed answers will be much appreciated, as i feel a bit gutted right now.

Hi Benzina

I just did a service and software update, but not through a dealer but a Land Rover Specialist in Sydney. I cant tell you if I got the update, but I must say the fuel economy has improved and the car feels smoother.
