AdBlue / DEF Top-up - PhilSkill - 18-11-2015 03:23pm

For you MY16 Diesel owners with that Blue Filler cap.

From the LR website... (Note Adblue = DEF)

http://www.landrover.co.uk/ownership/euro-6-emissions-standards.html

The DEF tanks for each vehicle have been designed to minimise the need for refills outside of vehicle service intervals. Roughly one litre of DEF is used up every 1,000 miles (although this can vary depending on how you drive). Tank sizes vary by model, from approx 9 litres to 17 litres, which means around 9,000 to 17,000 miles of driving before a refill is needed. Please refer to your model handbook for the exact tank size in your car.

- For the convenience, Land Rover Service Plans include complimentary DEF top-ups between service cycles, from either Jaguar or Land Rover approved service centres.

- Alternatively, you can arrange a top-up at a service centre for a fee.

Well done LR.

My D4 still has 15,500 miles of the stuff left in its tank. Those owners with 2 year service intervals may need to top up.

Hi,
Do you have to use the Landrover bottles to top up?
Would the below work?

Any AdBlue will work.

Which MY16 models need AD Blue?

RE: AdBlue / DEF Top-up - PhilSkill - 13-04-2016 09:53am

Any MY16 Diesel I believe, part of the new engines design to meet emissions, easy to tell, you'll have a blue filler cap next to your diesel filler cap.

On my ex-2016 Td180, the AdBlue filler is located in the engine bay. I remember this because the dealership chief technician tried to kid me that the 'child proof' cap was the cause of the dash vibration.......It was not.

Ok thanks Andy, I was thinking of my Merc that has it under the fuel hatch.

Do you need the JLR bottles I have seen the Video.
Can't you just pour it in from a jug, like you do with screen wash fill.

You can buy Add Blue from any garage now.
Could you refill one of the JLR refill bottles?

Got a ED4 on order SE Tech due early June.
