Q500 Auto Box Calibration - Stadt Panzer - 22-07-2015 01:39pm

Just had a look at Topix and it's showing that I need a Q500 update on the Auto Box, has anyone had this one and what's it for?

Just checked mine and likewise.

Must be new as mine was in the dealers last week having a new front strut fitted - unless of course they did not check for updates!!!

As it should be gone by 1st week in October, I won't bother doing another 250 mile trip to the dealers for yet another gearbox software update. At the moment the gearbox is working OK and the fuel ecconomy is good - so leave well alone.

Asked my dealer and it takes an hour. Load software and then 30 min drive with SSD attached.

Apparently Q500 is a new software update that applies to 2014 and 2015 models within a certain vin range.

Well mines a May 2014 build and its in my VIN range as Topix is showing it as an outstanding update. Question is what does it do? Unless LR are paying me to take it back for another day wasted and another 250 mile round trip it can stay outstanding. If the gearbox fails before first week in October and strands the car yet again, its a third trip to the dealers on the back of a breakdown truck - three strikes and your out - money back and rid of the piece of junk. Also the RRS I have on order will be cancelled.

Tony,

Didn't realize it had to be carried out before the 1st October! Do you know why it has to be done before then?

I don't have a 250 mile round trip more like 100 but I'll still get to done although I must admit that I didn't have one gearbox software update on my last Evoque, it ran like a Swiss watch and to be honest so does this one and I've just come back from a 1000 mile round trip.

SP,

Don't panic, as far as I know the software update does not have to be done by 1st October, that is the date we px the Evoque for a new RRS - if its built to schedule.

Apart from various rattles and a heavy clunk at the rear, the Evoque is running OK, so unless LR issue a recall I will not be wasting time and fuel taking it back to the dealer before our changeover date.

Our previous Evoque gearbox also ran like a watch - it was the old 6 speed, always in the right gear, no high revs, no jerky changes but the fuel consumption was dire.

Just been in for 1st service and had Q500 calibration carried out, gearbox changes were smooth before, now there is a clonk changing from 4th to 5th ... has anyone else experienced this ?
