Pure Modified and photo shoot - Velvet - 30-06-2015 11:57pm

Hi all,

6 months ago I upgraded from my first car. I wanted a 4WD that stood out so naturally there was only one car for me! I went with a second hand pure, I don't have an endless supply of cash after all.

After driving it for a few months the boring grey grill, front and rear bumpers started to bug me. They looked too cheap when compared to the striking colouring of the Dynamic model. So I decided to get some contrast colouring going and I LOVE the results. It makes the biggest difference to the car in my opinion.

Naturally, being a photographer I couldn't just stand for the usual car snaps. So up I got at 6am to head out to this location for sunrise light and I'm glad I did Smile

Whats been done:

Genuine mudflaps installed
Grill repainted black.
Front bumper repainted to silver and middle section matched with bumper colour.
Back bumper repainted silver and middle section matched with bumper colour.

Thanks!
Sure, a bit money restricted at the moment though. Bigger rims would also hinder the offroad ability, although I do like the 20" Inch styles. Something to consider for further on I think.

Very nice work there Velvet. I see you have a manual, quite a rare sight in Australia the land of auto's.
Red calipers would be nice but not at those prices.

Thanks, Yeah even the dealer was surprised when I took it in for a service. I think I'm the only manual Evoque customer.

Looks great Velvet! I am about to make the same job done for my brand new Evoque I will be receiving the end of this month. I am a little bit worried though, if the paint (in my case Fuji White) will last for years to come in the bumpers and all other parts.. Then again, most of the cars have painted bumpers and they last just fine. When you had your vehicle painted, they of course used some kind of primer first, right? Did they have to sand the parts some way before painting too? Do they give some kind of warranty for the paint job too?

Hi Velvet
How smooth is your gear change esp. 1st to 2nd. I have an ED4 manual in Sydney and the dealer has never been able to get it right. Has improved with time but still crunches into 2nd when cold.
Cheers
John

1st to 2nd is a fairly solid click/click affair rather than the smooth change of the higher geears, it's improved over the 3.5 years I've had mine, and never been so bad that it felt a problem to me until others mentioned it really, infact it's a really nice positive change. So I think it's a feature of this gearbox, where I guess some are a little worse than others.
