Perhaps LR have woken up to how much competition there is queueing up for a bite of the pie, maybe the task of engineering the roof while preserving the roofline and some luggage space was too much, maybe the financials didn't stack up.
In the end though, what probably killed it was anyone driving it would look like a real prat, pure and simple.

Then you need to contact the dealer your deposit is with. IIRC the cancelation was announced a couple of weeks ago when the RRS New York launch was held.
