Mirror Cover removal - pureevoque - 14-07-2012 01:53pm

The inevitable happened and I've scraped one of my mirrors coming out of the garage Big Cry

I was thinking of wrapping the mirror covers gloss black anyway, to offer some protection, now it will be to cover up the scrape as no doubt it'll happen again.

Does any one know how to get the mirror covers off as it will be a lot easier and neater to wrap off the car.

Maybe someone has access to topix or where ever it is the manuals are kept and there is an official way, hopefully the answer oesn't involve smashing the mirror Shocked

Have a look at these. http://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php?xProd=181235
You can than get them sprayed what ever colour you want.

They are a LR part so Duckwoths can order them in for you.
It's one of these jobs I haven't got round to doing to find out there price yet.

This is useful to know as I'm sure more of us might need to replace them at some point.

As above, these are available from any Land Rover dealer.

They come supplied in primer and can either be painted any colour you like or you can do as I did and wrap them in any good quality vinyl. Easy. I'm sure I didn't pay anywhere near the price quoted on the above website either. Got mine from Dan @ Duckworth Parts.

Edgedata how did you remove your old covers then?

RE: Mirror Cover removal - doug - 19-07-2012 09:28pm

I take it that the covers fit over the top of the door mirror, sticking them with 3M tape in the same way as the RR chrome mirror caps do.

I have just ordered a set from Dan @Duckworths. Will post some pictures when they turn up

Mirror caps turned up today, thank you Dan very quick serviceVery Happy
I stand corrected, there not caps to fit over the factory fit ones, but are replacements for a damaged mirror. Not bad for £35 the pair if you have your mirrors damaged.
So the caps are off to the body shop to have them sprayed gloss black.

The first question of how to remove the mirror cover still stands?
I can say that the back of the covers are lined with clips, so it looks like they just pull off. But I'm not going to try until my spare set are back from the shop. Let's hope LR haven't used plastic weld like on the bumper bits.
