Title RR Evoque front suspension click/tick - repair procedure
Category Chassis
Last modified 23-May-2012 00:00:00
Symptom 304000 Suspension System
Content Issue:
Customers have reported a click (also described as a tick or knock) from the front corner of the suspension on the L538 RR Evoque. Issue has been reported during low speed manoeuvres or static steering (parking).
A number of Lower Control Arms (LCA) have been replaced in an attempt to resolve the noise.
Cause:
Noise generation at the lower ball joint to knuckle interface occurs due to stick-slip between bolt, knuckle and ball joint stud.
Action:
To resolve the issue, dealers are requested to follow the attached procedure.
Essentially this requires that the fixing nut is slackened off and then re-torqued to 48Nm + 90 degrees.
Replacement of the fixing nut, bolt or LCA should not be required.
If this does not resolve the concern, please raise a separate EPQR to record the case.

I have an issue with the rear suspension from a sound occurring when driving into a drive way or going over an elevated surface such as a curb. Can it be related to this? Has the adaptive dynamics have anything to do with this?

Interesting, i think i may have this, been noticing a ticking sound when going over any bumps at lower speed, seemingly coming from the passenger footwell area.

Never get it on motorways

Have that as well
Is it something that can wait till first service
or it needs to be done immediately to prevent any damage
or can be ignored .?

Hate To leave to local dealer to give a go to fix and break something else

I have a new creek which has just recently developed and thought it was coming from the dash (drivers side). Can it be from the suspension?

The noise i have and believe may described above is most definitely not a creak, its a sharp quick noise best described as a high pitched tick that corresponds to bumps in the road at lower speeds

The noise I have is definatley a creak so I can cross suspension off the list, that just leaves the dash.

Thank you. It's simple enough so I've done it myself. No more ticking noise since Smile
