What does "adaptive dynamics" do? - Bruno787 - 04-04-2012 03:58pm

I'm about to order a dynamic evoque, but it doesn't have the "adaptive dynamics" option. What does this feature do?

Your Dynamic should come with AD as Standard.

That's only in UK & North America, pretty much everywhere else it is an option.

Us versions have it as an option for us$1,000 and the only stock left doesn't have it.

Bruno, there is a comprehensive thread on adaptive dynamics here http://babyrr.com/forum/Thread-Adaptive-Dynamics?highlight=adaptive+dynamics

Sticks to the road better whilst turning corners/rain and possible ice, the car dampers work independently on each wheel, hence avoids the car leaning. 20" wheels will also assist with this. (this is of course the sales pitch - I have yet to try both, as still waiting for delivery).

The general ride with an AD car is smoother, the car does not bounce around over bumps in the road, and takes rough surfaces at ease. You would not really use the harder setting except for race conditions round a race track, as the ride is a lot harder.

it probably doesnt do as much as you are lead to believe.

I had has a scirocco with adaptive dampers and i was hard pressed to tell the difference, even less difference in the throttle response between the modes comfort/normal/sport.

The mrs juke also has three driving modes eco/normal/sport and again it is hard to tell the difference, the streering feels a little heavier in sport and thats about it.
