I wonder if we are really limited to fat32. It's the standard for usb stick, since just about any operating system can work with it. This makes me wonder which operating system the car is using. Since it doesn't do ntfs out of the box, I guess we can rule out windows. For licensing reasons I would rule out OS X. So I guess they are using linux, so I wonder if ext2 or ext3 file systems will work. I'll give it a try when I get mine.

JLR are a qnx customer, http://www.qnx.com/solutions/industries/automotive/
I'm not 100% ,but I'm willing to bet that the underneath OS is qnx.

NP. Wonderful things are being done using the QNX OS (Subsidiary of RIM/Blackberry).

From what I can pick out on the web RIM blasckberry os is based on the Java Kernel, which would suggest as Sun Micro write Unix, OS X and Android are based on unix.

It does the same thing, sorting files and folders.
Been using it fo quite a while now, no complaints.
