Front 8" display resolution? - Straydox - 17-12-2011 06:19pm

I'm just looking at converting some DVD (.vob) video files (using DivX) does anyone know what the screen resolution of the car is?

800x600 is likely... but don't actually know, maybe better.

Any tips on DivX conversion would be handy if you get it working!

Thanks! I've had a play with DivX, decided to buy the Pro version and then discovered that I needed to buy the Mpeg2 Codec (it did prompt for it in the original purchase) as well (all my source material is in original format - see below) the whole lot was about £23 so not the end of the world.

My entire 576p standard definintion DVD library is digital, ripped at original quality/format so .vob (using CloneDVD.net) and stored locally on a home theatre PC (HTPC).

The DivX ripper UI seems a bit counter-intuitive at first but seems to work well enough - and an 8.5Gb DVD folder rips down to a useable 650mb with all the surround sound/audio quality pretty intact (most of my DVD library is music).

Just need an Evoque to test the ripped file on now....

I can confirm avi files work on the Evoque as I tested it out on a test drive. The video file was 350mb. I also tried another avi file that was 1.4gb and it did not work though. I tried mp4, mts and mpg and they did not work either.

AVI is not telling us much about the file contents itself. It's merely a "container" file and what's inside will be encoded with a certain "codec" (one for audio, one for video). It's this codec that determines whether the Evoque will play it, not the fact that it's packed inside AVI or not, nor the file size. The Evoque supports DivX v.3 - v.6 and XVid codecs.

Thanks for the explanation. Is there any way I can check what type of codec is packed inside the avi? Btw, I'm using a mac, not sure if that makes a difference.

Search for a tool called VideoSpec.
Windows users can look for GSpot.

Hi,

Some time ago I used the guides at http://www.afterdawn.com and they're quite helpful, also there were links to everything needed.
