Tint - LIONHEAD - 01-12-2011 10:26pm

So I had my RRE tinted this morning. Went with 35% for the front 2 doors. I figured 35% is what I have on my SL65 AMG, Jag XKR and E350 4matic that I'll stick with it. Didn't want to go any darker to attract cops. Tomorrow....mudflaps go on. Laughing

Superb! Something tells me you are a fan of black, no Wink

Thanks guys.

Btw...how did you guess I like black cars. Laughing funny my mailman said something similar a few weeks ago when he asked why the SL65 isn't black. I said there was slim pickings at that time around my area and so I went with Pewter. Very Happy. At least the RRE is metallic black....the others are jet black.

That tint would be illegal in the uk.

The rear windows and trunk tint is darker than 35% as it came from factory so it's legal. Most, if not all, SUV here in the U.S. has rear tints (rear windows all the way back) already from factory. Here tint or no tint is govern by state by state. A few years ago my state made it legal to have 35% tint all round or if you have factory rear tints already than it's 50% up front. I just went with 35% as it's just alittle darker than 50%. Plus with the Pano Roof open, it'll look even lighter.

in the uk i believe the front must let 75% light through, and as all windows already have a slight tint applying an aftermarket tint on top generally makes them over this and illegal. You can have the rears as dark as you like as they dont affect safety.

The amount of peole i see with really dark front tints who have to wind their windows down at junctions to get a view is staggering.

Although front tints can on some cars look smart they can also be highly dangerous. I used to like front tints & I had front tints on my MG ZR-Express Van till I got pulled over by V.O.S.A & told to remove. Once removed I actually prefered the look as it shows up the Black Leather & Red Alcantara trim nicely!!
