So the air temperature has probably peaked, the Price is on it's way back up from a dip, the MPG is stabilizing at 37.5.

Added a polynomial fit line on the Actual mpg which suggests it's settling after 7000miles (logarithmic fit showed it was still climbing, giving the faintest hope it could still improve...)

Notably the slower average speeds are where the best MPG is so far, it does definitely prefer crawling in moving traffic.

Lovely Drive to Stoke area up M6 using Toll today, and returning across the Peak District, ate the miles up and I didnt want to stop (sorry no pics). 70mph definitely only returns 34mpg decreasing rapidly if you go any faster, yet 60mph will return 40+mpg, and more from 50mph A roads even up and down over the peaks, so it really is a brick aero-dynamically on the M-Way.

Seems the Trip and real life decided to deviate, poor mpg this time, don't know why, Trip said 38.8, real said 36.4.

I did notice a DPF regeneration during this tank, maybe a detrimental effect on mpg not taken in the Trip?

I wish I could say I understood this but I don't LaughingLaughing

What I do know though is that at long last the Office of Fair Trading, is looking into the cost of crude oil and the impact on forecourt prices. What goes up, goes up immediately, what goes down doesn't!!

The Red dotted line is my Average MPG, the Axis along the bottom is the fuel fill count. The lime green line is my actual mpg per fill calculated. The dark green line is the Trip reading per fill.

So after the trip to the Netherlands the MPG cold have been better around 38mpg, ok car was loaded but with such flat countryside I rather hoped to get into the 40's.

The Yellow line shows how the average speed varied due to the long motorway sections and then town stuff in the middle brought it down again.

The Trip
