Motorisation On Topix - selespeed - 30-10-2011 01:16pm

Hello,

I have received My Dynamic Coupe TD4 yesterday...

I Put my serial number on Topix, and I was very surprise to see, that it's write that my motorisation is a 190PS !!!

Someone have an explication for me ???

Tim has recently explained this I think on another thread so worth doing a search. It's something to do with all the engines being 190bhp but on the TDs the mapping takes it down to 150. Something like that??

Yes this is what appears to happen. Everyone placing an order for an SD4 (190 PS) is paying for the remapping for the TD4 as the engine is built in one specification only and that is to produce 190 PS.
It is then mapped to a lower specification when the software is loaded onto ECU when the vehicle has acquired a VIN number in the the production line.
So in effect, all the engines are produced as SD4 and only become TD4 engines by software detune.
I repeat link to thread on Freelander 2 forum.
