GAP Insurance - Sterling01 - 22-09-2017 06:26pm

Hi, I have been on here for quite a while and have now eventually placed a deposit on a new-to-me Evoque. All will be revealed soon.

GAP insurance. Guy Salmon are quoting me £615 for a 3 year policy and £20k limit. Reading moneysavingexpert.com, I got a quote for £215 for the same cover.

So the questions basically are:

1. Is the dealer just a rip off
2. Has anyone ever had to claim their GAP insurance and can offer any good or bad stories?

Thanks,

Kenny

I've just bought a used Evoque from Guy Salmon Coventry, and also got a similar GAP price from them which when I said I could get 4 year cover from Ala from about £240 then all the sales person said was they'd only manage about £100 discount, so yes it is a rip off. I took out the Ala cover, but thankfully I've not had to make any claims on any GAP insurance so can't give feedback there.

Basically ANY extra from a dealership is a rip off

Dealer quoted me £900 for gap, when I said I'd found it for £235, they matched the price... don't believe a word the salesman tells you.

Never used it thankfully.
