Headlights not working.. HELP! - 24kRR - 13-09-2017 11:56am

Hi,

My headlights are not working, when I have them switched off the xenon ones come on auto but when I turn the switch to any point 1 or 2 the lights do not come on.

If I flash the light for the beams I just hear a noise coming from the bonnet in the front but no lights seem to work.

Is this common, any ideas?

Thanks!

Doesn't sound a normal fault,

so Auto the xenon lights come on as you'd expect when dull or dark.
But Switched to 1 are the DRL's on?
Switched to 2, you don't get the Xenons on, are the DRL's on?
Flash you hear the Main beam motor working but no light, (uses same headlight just changes the mirror position)

Seems very odd if the only time you can get the lights to come on is in Auto mode.

Yeah they come on when everything is switched off, when you turn it to 1 or 2 they turn off.

Nothing is on only the inside lights are on

Switched to 2, you don't get the Xenons on, are the DRL's on?
Dont get anything

Flash you hear the Main beam motor working but no light, (uses same headlight just changes the mirror position)
YEAH correct

its a bit sh*t I have to have the inside dark to be able to see anything, as it has to be switched off for the xenons to come on, then if you turn it nothing comes on and no beam nothing.

any ideas where to look?, Fuse?, headlight gone and shorted it all?
1 of the lights was out the other day (so the wife says but i didnt see it)

Maybe the switch that operates automatic headlights is entirely separate (in parallel) with the 'normal' switch? If so, that might point to a switch or relay problem, as the lights obviously are still capable of working.

What do you mean having the inside dark? My dash lights up when I start the car and my previous car (without DRLs) lit up the dash when the auto lights came on.

Or are you saying the lights come on automatically (at night) when turned completely off, but not when turned on or to auto?
