4 year service cost - sasdiscos - 02-05-2017 12:30pm

Well, this is my first service with the car, as i purchased it at 3 years. Only done 3k in it in the year I've had it.

Both land rover garages near me quoted the same price for mot and service at 529.40. Seems steep! And thats with a free mot for life from the northampton garage. mk wanted 20 quid more.

I agree that its a range rover but really? My FF tdv8 was about the same cost to service. I would like to keep it in-house whilst its still under warranty as don't want any wriggle room for them if there is a claim.

Year 5, straight to my indi i think.

Steve

I went to a local independent Land Rover specialist for my service and MOT also the 4 year one and it was £445 (£25 for MOT) so your main dealer price doesn't seem that bad.
I know a couple of filters needed replacing this year but the big killer to the bill is the VAT

I paid £281 for the 4th service and £39 for the MOT (both done together at the same time) last year at my local Land Rover main dealer.
That makes £529 very expensive! Were both garages part of the same group?

Nope. Tried another 2. All the same give or take. They were all different franchises. Guy salmon, Lancaster and Marshall. Marshall being the dearest.

What did you do in the end? Mines 4 years old in October so thinking about what to do. Milage is 25k, and previously always been LR serviced.

Not sure I fancy a £500 bill though to be honest. Can get a LR service kit for £64 including oil, pollen, fuel and air filter. Then add oil, and the mechanic I use will fit for peanuts. Throw in a cheap Mot, and I could be done easily for under £200 all in.

Am I missing anything from the fourth year service that would push the price up? 2.2 sd4 btw.

Try Lindacre they're a lot cheaper than marshalls.
To make it even cheaper, ask for a oil/filter and MOT only. The MOT covers all of the checks which you are paying for on a "normal" service anyway.
This way you still get the service stamp (oil & filter only) and they even check and carry out any software updates for free.

I bought mine at 3 years old from a main dealer. I got the 2 year warranty plus LRA but they were running a promotion at the time - take out the minimum amount on HP (£10k), don't pay it off before 6 months and you got 2 years 'free' servicing. I think I paid around £300 in interest when I paid it off but I had my 4th year service last October and still have my 5th year service to come this October. Not bad for £300 plus, as others have said, no way for them to duck out of anything because of lack of LR servicing should I need a warranty job done.

Just make sure that if you do use an Indie, that you Register & Upload the details of any Service to the LR OSH Website....

Even though mine has had All the Services done by LR, the OSH had not been updated at all, so needed to scan the Invoices & Upload them myself to the OSH, Twicw!!! Before the Services Appeared!!!!!!
