ECO Start/ Stop - Koidream - 10-04-2017 05:44pm

ECO Start/ Stop isn't working since months.
First I thought it was because it was winter, but now the ECO Start/ Stop still isn't working.
On friday the RRE goes in for her second maintenance. I will inform them about the Start/ Stop not working anymore.
Any ideas what it can be?

Low battery voltage. It needs to be almost fully charged (13.4 V) to work.

Low batt in a 2 year old car? That would be another dissapointment.

It's more to do with the rates of charging versus discharging. Low mileage, lots of electrics on, soon equals a battery low enough not to allow stop-start. I road tested a brand new (6 miles) demonstrator and the stop-start didn't work until I'd driven it quite a few miles (something like 30 from memory).

It doesn't, however, mean the battery is flat, just below the required voltage threshold - LR seem very cautious on that score and, for example, restrict how long the entertainment system can be on without the engine running.

Yep if mines stood for a few days the stop/start wont work straight away (and often doesn't work even after using it a few days), as the Alarm system alone will slowly drain the battery.

I often turn it off anyway as most of my daily stops are very short, and the more I turn it off the more it works when I forget! as it's not using the battery charge up in Stop mode.

I keep mine on an optimate and it always works, last year when I went away and did a few short trips in the cold with the heated seats, screen wheel on etc it didn't work for the first time. This fully backs up the low battery theory.

The worst invention ever first thing I turn of in all the cars I've owned waste of time. Not to mention the extra stress it's gotta put on all the components constantly on of on of can't be good long term.

If think my RRE is also lurking on this forum. Today, after a few months, start/ stop start working again???
I read somewhere to lower the temperature, to 18°C, stop the car, restart it and put it back to a normal (21,5°C) temperature to solve the problem.
I did this 2 days ago. Was this the solution or is it coincidental?

Never heard of that and can't imagine why, sounds like a pipedream, koidream!

Don't worry, today it stopped working again
