Jim:

Can I ask what HID model headlamps your replaced your Halgogens with? I've heard the US Halogen and US HID use different connectors, and that only EU spec HIDs will fit the stock US Halogen connection...

RE: Xenon Headlights

You're saying the headlights work fine, just no signature DRL halos?

Wow, even more conflicting information.

I read elsewhere that after a US Halogen to EU HID swap the DRL LEDs come on automatically and only the Xenon lamps need config.

Yes everything works perfect but only issue is no drl. You can have a dimmed version of the drl when you run parking lights which still looks nicer than the halogen.

Strange. It's a different issue, but maybe updating the CCF to HID would still fix it. I don't imagine you have a IID BT to program that? Indie shop nearby?

Coopak - you need to get drl function activated in CCF. I don't believe there is any difference in wiring between US and UK spec lamp units. Only difference I'm aware of is that US spec have marker lamps.

Jim

Can the dealer do this or is it better to buy the IDtool that you posted?

I called an indie shop yesterday about programing the CCF for HID. They had never been asked before but thought they could probably do it with their autologic diagnostic system ($10k+).

335i: If you get the IIDtool for this, I'd be happy to buy it off you afterwards to offset your cost.

Autologic is capable of editing the ccf. Dealer can also make change with JLR tool but not all dealers will agree to do it.

RE: Xenon Headlights

I think in Europe the dealers are more friendlier to these type of things versus the dealers here in the USA. I think the IDtool is the best bet.

Coopak- I would be interested in doing that. I have done this before with Audi and BMW cables on the forums and it always works out great.
