Why wait for 62 reg

Now that I've had my build date moved forward by 9 weeks it had taken away any doubt that I would have a 62 reg car, it would be delivered on the 23rd July and I was so excited. But someone mentioned on one of the forums they were waiting for the new 62 reg even though their car would also come in July and it threw a bit of doubt into my head.

Apart from resale value (and can anyone clarify what they think will be the difference between a July 12 and sept 62 dynamic)

Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't just take the car early and start to enjoy it much earlier??

Thoughts?

Ordered Feb 2012 - Orkney grey 5dr Dynamic SD4 Automatic. Lux pack, Dynamic plus Pack (velocity ebony leather) ebony headliner and gloss black finishers. Shadow chrome style 7s, heated steering wheel and a spare wheel just in case! Build date 6/7/12 delivery date 23/7/12. Built 3/7 pick up 14/7!!!!!

RE: Why wait for 62 reg

Just take it earlier, the newer plate will hardly make any difference really as it will still be a 2012 reg car.

RE: Why wait for 62 reg

The new reg does make a difference but it will vary on model.

Just out of curiosity, I just took a look at the glasses guide prices of a 3 year old Audi Q5 2.0TDI on an 09 and 59 plate (since there are no figures yet for the Evoque, and the Audi is the current market leader in terms of recorded depreciation).
The result showed that the price difference was about 5% (about £900 on the particular model I looked at).

Obviously the longer you keep the car the smaller the difference will be in cash terms.

So its all down to balance really. How long will you keep the car and how much you will lose on resale compared with much you want the car. Is a few more weeks wait worth the best part of an extra £1k to you in 3 years time etc?

Ordered 17/2/12 Dynamic SD4 Auto 5dr, Mauritius Blue, Pan roof, 20" style 6 (gloss black), Vortex, Ebony Headlining, Ent Pack, Heated St. Wheel, Homelink, Pr Glass, Auto Dim r.view mirror, spare wheel

RE: Why wait for 62 reg

Often the (perceived) MY comes into question.
If the '13MY is available on '62 plates then it may command a bit more than a '12 plate. Especially if some of the early 'niggles' have been sorted out.

Ordered 3-4-2012 - Build date 27-6-2012 - Delivery expected 9-7-2012 - Actual delivery 29-6-2012
SD4 Auto Dynamic, Orkney Grey with black pano roof, style 7 wheels, lux pack, verve interior, ebony headlining, privacy glass, adaptive xenons, heated steering wheel, load retension system.

RE: Why wait for 62 reg

if it were 23rd August, then I'd say wait, but an "expected" delivery of 23rd July, is probably more likely to be a week to 10 days before that, at which point you'd delay by 6-7weeks purely for a registration?
No, I don't think I'd wait.
6 days yes, 6 weeks, no.
(IMHO)

Ordered: Fuji Dynamic Lux Coupe / style 7 wheels / Privacy glass / adaptive xenons / something else which I've forgotton.
Should be end of April (was March, then April, then end of May/June).
Collected, Friday 13th Shocked April 2012

RE: Why wait for 62 reg

Personally I would take it straight away.

I'd be surprised if the dealer would hold it for that long, I would have thought they would want their money.

Deposit paid: 25 Sept 11
Order date: 28 February 12

RE: Why wait for 62 reg

I actually read somewhere that the March registrations hold onto their value a little better than the September registrations, sounds like Censored to me, we have a 12 plate Evoque and a 57 plate BMW. I generally prefer th look of the September plates, although the 12 plate looks good too!

Orkney Grey 5 Door Prestige, Manual SD4, Vibe Interior, Panoramic Roof and Privacy Glass. Order Placed 2/7/11 Picked Up 17/3/12, Gone 10/5/14
