Connectivity

Not sure if this is the right thread for this chapter on here, however ...
I wanted to ask how my iPhone will connect to the car (before I make a twit of myself in front of the handover person). On my current Freelander it’s a Belcan cable, which works only one way .. i.e. phone to car .. theres no return data so can’t change tunes via cars menu and so on. I’m wondering if it’s via bluetooth and if so does that drain the phone charge quickly, I usually keep bluet. switched off as its always trying to connect if left on.
My car is a standard Prestige, so thats the gear it comes with.
Thanks folks.

RE: Connectivity

I'm not an iPhone user so probably the wrong person to answer, but Bluetooth is the phone connection method, but you can also charge your phone and use it as a media device over USB in the centre console. I turned Bluetooth on all the time on my Blackberry and haven't noticed it being much worse on the battery.

RE: Connectivity

I'm not an iPhone user either, maybe we should start a club as there are only a few of us left.....I expect the dealer has seen loads of iPhones by now and will know how to do it.

RE: Connectivity

Thanks for this .. when you connect, does the phone (Blackberry or otherwise) act via 2 way comms ? EG, you can see your play list on the centre screen and adjust from there ?

RE: Connectivity

Don't be embarrased to ask your dealer at handover... that's what the handover is for. By now the dealer will have done loads of hand overs so have been asked all these questions.. so if they are any good they will know the answer, and be able to tell you in a non-condesending manner!

I've never connected my Blackberry by USB, the bluetooth just shows it as a phone connected and I can use the call menu's on the screen to see contacts and make calls via the built in handsfree system.

Ah so you don’t use your phone for a music playlist then ? No probs, of course I’ll chat to dealer, she’s dead easy to get on with, I always find though I ask lots of questions so I then forget lots too !

RE: Connectivity

At the hand over, your dealer should run though all the controls. Using the cars hands free unit is one of them. To do this he should ask for your phone & any other phone that will be used in the Evoque to pair up to.
At least this is what they do at my local "Lookers" dealership Smile
